happy halloween

two, perhaps, interesting things from this morning…

the last few minutes of sleep were spent wondering what we might give out to the trick-or-treaters tonight. once I came up with the best option, my eyes opened. I rolled over to my wife and told her to pick up a few dozen cans of vienna sausages. then tonight we can give out “halloweenies”.

later, I stood outside and realized it would be a wonderful day to ride my motorcycle. we’re fortunate enough to have a bit of an indian summer around here. while the over all temperatures continue to cool, we’re blessed with a few days of sunshine and warmer weather now-and-again.

as I headed out, not 15 feet from my house, a black cat ran across the road. I hope that’s not a bad talisman for the rest of the day.

Fairy tales are scary

While Sheila and I were on our anniversary trip, we stopped by ‘Rock City’. On the walking tour through these gigantic rock formations the path leads to some series of caves. Through the caves there are a series of UV lit dioramas depicting classic fairy tales.

Each story is built in perspective as the scene leads back a cave either on the right or left of the viewer. Among them are ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’, ‘Hansel and Gretel’, ‘Little Red Riding Hood’, ‘Snow White’, ‘Rip Van Winkle’ and, of course, this one of ‘Goldilocks’.

While I’m sure they’re meant to be ‘interesting’, we found them downright freaky. Cave after cave has these horrific little people in the crux of their story.

Tim Burton would be proud.

Thank you, iTunes

This dialog box came up when I had tried to order something I alreay owned from the iTunes Music Store. It’s nice to see that they’ve incorporated this into iTunes. It’ll definitely keep me from hurting myself (or getting my wife mad).

Incidently, I think I might have come up with a new lexicon item: iTunes Music Sore : an abrasion caused by clicking to order music too fast.
