New Fiona Apple

found some new tracks from Fiona Apple floating around the interweb. As a fan of her first and best, but not only, real studio album Tidal I took a listen to these tracks and see someone who’s getting more comfortable. She’s grown since the rolling piano and pining of Shadowboxer and is making more complex tunes. For the most part we haven’t heard much from her since the 99 album When the Pawn.

Take a listen to the tracks, I think they’re worth a listen.

Extraordinary Machine

more to come…

Visual Punditry : the vlog

Exerpt from my story for All The Rage

“The past few years have seen explosive growth in blogging. Its moved from mundane ” dear diary ” -type writing to wave-making social and political activism.

Within minutes of a story breaking, thousands of Web sites can quickly report on the event, providing running commentary. Blogs have made politics and punditry lean and fast. If you doubt the power of the blog, just take a look at almost any news outlets Web site. Theyve been restyled into a type of instantaneous publishing portal. ABC Nightly News recently made bloggers their ” People of the Year. “

And if you think blogs are impressive, just watch the growth of the vlogging culture.”

In a touch of syncronicity, it seems Sandeep Junnarakar of The New York Times was thinking the same thing for his column, Bloggers Add Moving Images to Their Musings.

Walking To The Loft

something struck me as interesting about this. it wasn’t just the tilt of my head but the feeling of being out there in the snow on a city street. that darn smile crept up again.
