the country music movie
had an idea last night while sitting at a writers night down at The Broken Spoke.
I was thinking it might make for a good movie where you follow a group of songwriters who are all searching to “make it big”. Some are just interested in selling song while others are hoping to be a star.
The movie would follow a group of about 3 or 4 people who are really good but don’t get much time but are well respected.
A funny aside hit me when my friends all got off stage and the next group of people got up. The way it works is that someone books the show and brings 2 other people. They all take turns singing their original songs, getting a total of 3 passes each. Anyone can sign up for this and it’s somewhat interesting the talent (or lack thereof) levels of people that show up.
Well, my three friends get done and the next group that gets up there has a few extra people. usually they’re only doing this in 3’s or 4’s, but this group, mostly dressed in black, had 2 extra people. It made me laugh because I kept thinking of Daniel LaRusso Vs. the Kobra Kai in The Karate Kid. Their “master song-rewriter” was sitting in the back of the room and these people had good songs…but just didn’t seem to have the heart.
Of course, my friends are the Daniel LaRusso group, the underdogs.
It just made me laugh. Maybe I’ll start penning something about all this.
more later…
