columbus

had a great time visiting my friend JJ Curtiss this past weekend. it was nice to hang out in an environment where there was no pressure (self-imposed or not) to be anything other than myself.

I almost hate coming back to my apartment. Seemed like everything was so perfect about being there…the company, the weather, the food.

I walked into my apartment and smelled the smoke. the room was warm and humid (I turned the air off when I left) and it just wasn’t very inviting.

Guess I’ll start by writing a list of things to do around here and then get hopping.

more on the JJ thing later…

hahahaha

I really prefer Don’t go to the office day

followed by: Pants optional day
Bring your funy ass to the home office day
Shower optional day
Forget about the dishes day
“I wonder what the crud on my teeth is?” day
Learn your coffee vs. shake tolerance day
“How long can I afford to do nothing?” day
Nude editing day
Post crap to your blog all day, day

but those are just a few of my favorites.

to my next of kin

likely, you’ve read about me going to Paris, France….

I’d just like to point out, should anything happen to me, that all my worldly posessions should go into the care of my parents. they, of course, will dole them out to those who desire the assests.

that is all. thanks for attending.

music. is. good.

i’m having a blast playing with Apple’s Soundtrack application.

While it’s not Peter Gabriel, Enigma or the Chemical Brothers, it sure is a hoot.

more later…

the country music movie

had an idea last night while sitting at a writers night down at The Broken Spoke.

I was thinking it might make for a good movie where you follow a group of songwriters who are all searching to “make it big”. Some are just interested in selling song while others are hoping to be a star.

The movie would follow a group of about 3 or 4 people who are really good but don’t get much time but are well respected.

A funny aside hit me when my friends all got off stage and the next group of people got up. The way it works is that someone books the show and brings 2 other people. They all take turns singing their original songs, getting a total of 3 passes each. Anyone can sign up for this and it’s somewhat interesting the talent (or lack thereof) levels of people that show up.

Well, my three friends get done and the next group that gets up there has a few extra people. usually they’re only doing this in 3’s or 4’s, but this group, mostly dressed in black, had 2 extra people. It made me laugh because I kept thinking of Daniel LaRusso Vs. the Kobra Kai in The Karate Kid. Their “master song-rewriter” was sitting in the back of the room and these people had good songs…but just didn’t seem to have the heart.

Of course, my friends are the Daniel LaRusso group, the underdogs.

It just made me laugh. Maybe I’ll start penning something about all this.

more later…
