working tonight I’m starting to think ahead. who knows how far I’ll get.

sunday nights, as I told someone, are really the best time to catch up on a weeks worth of procrastination.

i’m archiving to digital tape a few past productions. some as old as a year and a half (craig, creed) and progressively getting younger (plus one, nasa, rocc, girls of grace, dino don, ect.).

as I watch i’m getting hit with a thought. Have I passed the prime of working on working at some version of “cutting edge”. I’ve never thought that anything I’ve done in that category…some elements always stood out more than others…but for the most part, they were just par for the course of the job. Some garnered a little acclaim, some were personal goals achieved and, yet still, others were no more than a paycheck.

The ones that I’m extremely proud of will probably always be that way. They hold a steadfast place in my heart.

More to the point of where my thoughts have taken me are a position, a category of which I can find seeking for myself in the future. I know that the flavors of the moment will always surpass my lone abilities and sensibilities. They’re the talk of the town for a moment but quickly fade into kitsch or obscurity, none lasting more than a blink.

The pieces I’ve been most proud of seem to take an educational route. They’re the videos that do some sort of teaching (dino don) or celebrate inspiration (nasa). True, the nasa project was only a temp to get my foot in the door…but damnit, I would love to do that project. Sans ego and put the dollars on the screen.

Maybe I should look for productions of those sort. Heck, education is a never-ending pool of work and everyone needs inspiration. That’s the sum of it. Maybe I can find a job, daily-weekly-occassionally, doing things of that sort? Is that here in Tennessee? I’m not afraid of moving if there’s a position available and a paycheck to be had.

I could put together a pretty kick-ass reel to get my feet in the door. After that, I would hope that my work ethic and personality would make the most tight-fisted bean counters lose their white knuckles.

if you hear of anything out there…Let me know
