to infinity..
hey, I had a meeting yesterday with some pretty important new clients. at the risk of sounding arrogant, they asked me to attend, not as Dove Comm but has J. Curtis, video guy they like.
Late last year/earlier this year a series of curriculum went out to schools about the space program. That school work turned into essays and scientific tests performed by kids. All of these events culminate at a recognition ceremony. At that show, those kids were given awards while being treated to a youth orchestra and a lighting, pyro and video show. All of this was funded by NASA. Yup, the real NASA.
this is where I come in…
NASA has a private PR firm (based in Hunsville, AL - home of “space camp”) that put this curriculum together and formed a think-tank (the creative backbone) for the invention of a series of shows that will tour around the country. There will be 9 shows in the late spring/early summer of next year. I am part of that think-tank.
But, that’s not all…
They have lots of video elements in this show, it’s a very visual and instructional show. They need someone to create and manage that part of the show. And I’m on the top of the list for being that person.
Which means, I’ll be spending some time touring 8 of the 15 NASA facilities, creating a multimedia show that (most likely) will be narrated by Patrick Stewart — that’s Captain Picard from Star Trek, if you didn’t know.
It will take me out of commission for doing ANYTHING else at dove for the next year.
How’s that for some interesting stuff? Got any questions you wanna ask NASA?
The other side of the whole experience, thus far, is a bit more reflective. While I’m flattered to be interviewed for such a position and I’m excited about the possibilities, it’s a bit frightening. Just think, my budget alone will probably be in the $500,000 to $1 million range. It will require the concerted effort of a whole staff I do not have and culminate with a production we’re not sure how to do yet. Hmmm…damn I love to gamble.
Just thought you might like to know what the old kid is doing in little old Murfreesboro these days.
